Type: Roleplaying (Fantasy)
Rating: 4/10
Given all the very high ratings this game received from other people I seem to be either far to fastidious or simply to stupid to have fun with these type of games. Wizardry 8 falls in the same category as Morrowind or Might & Magic 6 - if you were bored by these games, Wizardry 8 surely will not dissapoint you here.
The usual plain 3D graphics, not really bad but on the average with a rather plain, empty, boring and far to "large" feeling.
Mediocre, too crowded and complicated in places but some annoyances like not being able to see characters' inventory or switch between characters when shopping have been avoided.
Like MM6 you can choose between realtime and turn-based combat.
Yet another game that totally fails to make me "feel at home" in its world ...
I've never been very fond of mixing SF and Fantasy (though it didn't really annoy me that much in MM3-5 for some reason). The "interesting unique races" mentioned in another review nonetheless include the standard elves, dwarfes and hobbits ... Big with only a few actually interesting places here and there.
Rather big concerning the actual area but only few buildings and even fewer people.
50% of time: Run around trying to get from A to B (which introduces one of the few good points of the game: even when only walking you're already faster than when running in most other games of this type). 43% fight hordes of boring monsters. 5% talk to not actually more interesting people. 2% other stuff (like "solving puzzles" if "find that button and press it" really counts).
Find ancient, super-powerful artifacts, defeat big bad guy and his minions, save world.
If I have to see this one used once again (at least in this old, absolutely unimaginative manner) I'm going to puke ...
Not too hard, at least in "Novice" setting, though you can give yourself a real challenge if you try to play through the game without yawning even once ...
Couldn't find any, at least not in the few hours I played the thing.
A waste of time.
